I uploaded the same photo to the course's Flickr account. Getting photos from my camera onto the library's computers has proved very difficult. So far, this is the only current photo. This charming piece of folk art from Poland was installed here yesterday. It's a Szopka or Christmas castle, made from candy wrappers.
I'll have to find a better process if I'm going to have a library blog with up-to-date photos. Or else I'll have to do everything from home.

more images

The super stickies are cute and I can imagine using them. Perhaps I'll impose one on this week's summer reading flyer.

I didn't have as much luck with Big Huge Labs' pot art poster, perhaps because my first image wasn't the right kind of file. I did find something that would upload, but the quality leaves much to be desired. Obviously, I should have brought my camera in to work today.

image #2

The reasonably clever mini-mizer is fun, but time consuming. I can imagine using the word mosaic. Perhaps a use for this will come to me in the middle of the night.

adding images

I didn't act on thing #9 because my camera is at home and I couldn't find any usable photos at work. Now thing #10 has us generating images. Problem solved? It always helps in learning to do someting. That image looks a bit large, so I'll make it a bit smaller.

Google Alerts

I caught up with the things Saturday afternoon. Just before hurrying out for the last half hour on the floor I signed up for Google Alerts and Social Mention and checked out Addictomatic. I was impressed that Addictomatic pulled up so many things about our neighborhood right away. I was even more impressed when I checked my email this morning and Google Alerts alerted me to the fact that someone had "helpfully" posted what she thought were the coming week's events at our library. Unfortunately, she had picked up June, not July events. There is no puppet show or museum-sponsored craft program this week. I posted a correction and am hoping we won't have a lot of unhappy kids showing up for a nonexistent puppet show on Wednesday.

Starting at last

I've been on vacation and then struggling to catch up again with Summer Reading and a revised schedule now that we're only open five days a week. Possibly it would have been easier to take this course at some time other than summer, a children's librarian's busiest time. Still, I really want to do this, so I'll find time to catch up and keep up.
