Starting at last
I've been on vacation and then struggling to catch up again with Summer Reading and a revised schedule now that we're only open five days a week. Possibly it would have been easier to take this course at some time other than summer, a children's librarian's busiest time. Still, I really want to do this, so I'll find time to catch up and keep up.

I don't think there is ever a good time for a children's librarian. Work at your own pace. There is no firm deadline for completion. If you need a few extra weeks (or months) that will be fine. Glad to have you along!
